As part of our campaign to raise awareness of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, we asked children and young people in Wales to tell us what they think the Welsh Assembly Government should do over the next 20 years to make life easier, safer and more enjoyable for them.
Entries were accepted in a wide range of formats including paintings, poems and booklets.
To judge the competition we invited a representative from Save the Children and a panel of young people, who selected 6 regional winners from across Wales. (Shown below)
From the regional winners the overall Wales winners were selected, one from the primary age range and one from the 11-25 age range.
Regional winners were sent their prize of a digital flip camera and certificate. Overall Wales winners were awarded their prize of a laptop and certificates at the Senedd by the Deputy Minister for Children Huw Lewis.
Overall Wales winners were:
11-25 age range competition winners
Monmouth Comprehensive School – who created a Mural showing rights that children and young people are entitled to under the UNCRC, including their right to privacy, nutrition, education, freedom and many more.
The Mural is displayed at a Support Centre for students in their School. |
